And spinoff of stranger things named,

A new template has been created that will help editors make perfect en dashes to go in between the lifespans.

{{Dash}} should be inserted between the date of birth and date of death that appear at the beginning of a page.

I encourage editors to use this template when changing individuals from living to deceased (and also when creating new pages, if applicable).

Note that the en dash is slightly wider than the imperfect dash. The en dash is seen on the vast majority of pages, so from now on this template should be used to replicate that dash.

Correct usage of this template will help maintain a standard of consistency and neatness across the wiki. Let me know if any inconvenience arises from its use.

If there aren't any articles or similar information about centenarians or SCs from recent years (not counting celebrities or notable people), I am not sure if there should be a page for them. This is something I thought about since the new oldest living man in Finland is fairly anonymous (although we know his name), but there aren't articles about him, so it can be assumed that he wants to keep a low profile. So I am not sure if he himself or his family would want an article dedicated for him.

I think if there is a public news article or an interview about a person, I think okay to make an article, like we have done in the past, but I am not sure what to do in this case.

What do you think?

Tomiko Itooka has passed away at 116, same day as Carter, may she Rest In Peace. This might be old news for some people, I apologize for that.

We are establishing a new position on Superlongevity Wiki — that of the wiki executive.

The wiki executive will essentially be the lead administrator and will spearhead positive changes and additions to the SLW. This individual will be the "go-to" for questions and concerns, and will also decide what areas of improvement to focus on for the wiki.

There are several reasons why I think we need an explicit position such as this, even when just reading the thread for this wiki on the 110 Club. This is a good way of clearing up any confusion on authority (who can I go to for help?), but also a way of reinvigorating the SLW and starting a fun little wiki-wide tradition.

Basic information

The wiki executive will be selected based on the result of a poll. Whoever wins the poll can "serve" as the wiki executive for a term of three months, and then a new poll will be conducted.

In their three-month term, the wiki executive can take the SLW any direction they like, since they have been approved by the community.

Role and Responsibilities

• Act on ideas and suggestions from the community

• Has the ability to change wiki guidelines

• Can make unilateral decisions when needed

• Encourages the wiki's progression as a whole

The wiki executive will technically not have any obligations as to how much they must edit or be active; that is their choice. However, they will be responsible for choosing a new featured article at the end of every month.

Here are some additional rewards for the position:

• Administrator status for three months

• A custom "Wiki Executive" tag

• A custom username (optional)

Selection

The poll to select a wiki executive will be created tomorrow. The term starts on 1 January 2025.

I will be in that poll and I would like to be selected. However, any user is free to place themselves in the poll if they wish to be chosen. If so, you must express your interest in a comment or message.

Any time there is only one candidate, the poll will have a write-in option.

I get wanting to stay netuel but the grg is clearly an unreliable source especially given their "retroactive " validations and the fact that the website has so many contradictions and the fact that there validated several unreliable claims (Dunard Vellard literally any Russian case and Elias wen for example) so is it really worth staying Netueral when once side is not even close to being as reliable as they used to

As we near the end of the 2024 year, I thought I might make a little summary of this year.

This year has been full of surprises and some unfortunate events, here are them in chronological order-

1. January 7- Andre Ludwig, age 111, passes away.

2. January 17- Maria Branyas Morera celebrates one year of being the world's oldest person.

3. January 18- Juan Vicente Pérez Mora celebrates being worlds oldest man for 2 years

4. January 24- Francis Zouein passes away at the claimed age of 113 years.

5. February 1- Pearl Berg, the second oldest person in California and the oldest jewish person at the time, passes away at the age of 114 years.

6. February 5- Edie Ceccarelli celebrates her 116th birthday.

7. February 22- Edie Ceccarelli, americas oldest person at the time, passes away at the age of 116 years.

8. March 4- Maria Branyas Morera, world's oldest person at the time celebrates her 117th birthday

9. April 2- Juan Vicente Pérez Mora, world oldest man, passes away at the age of 114 years

10. June 3- Morrie Markoff, America's oldest man passes away at the age of 110.

11. June 26- Vincent Dransfield, America's oldest man passes away aged 110.

12. June 26- Eugene Baltes becomes America's oldest resident.

13. July 12- Superlongevity Fandom turns 1 year old!

14. August 19- Maria Branyas Morera, world's oldest person, passes away at the age of 117 years, gone, but not forgotten.

15. August 19- Tomiko Itooka becomes the world's oldest person.

16. October 1- Jimmy Carter, former U.S. president turns 100.

17. October 22- Elizabeth Francis, America's oldest resident passes away at the age of 115.

18. November 15- Eileen Kramer passes away at the age of 110 years.

19. December 29- Jimmy Carter passes away at the age of 100 years. Rest in peace, gone, but not forgotten.

20. December 29- Worlds oldest person Tomiko Itooka passes away at the age of 116 years on the same day that Jimmy Carter passed away, may both he and she Rest In Peace.

This year unfortunately had a lot of deaths in the longevity community, but there's two events on this fandom involving 2 legendary users-

On December 4 2024, legendary SLW user MrCatlord2.0 retired from The 110 Club and Superlongevity Wiki.

And,

On December 26 2024, original wiki moderator AwesomeAndEpicGamerr (AAEG) went inactive. We will miss all of you.

I am thinking I (or someone else, doesn't really matter) could add more categories, such as:

• Celebrities (for example Kirk Douglas, Olivia De Havilland and others belong here)

• Politicians (for example Jimmy Carter)

• Royals (Queen Elizabeth II, her mother and other royals)

MrCatLord2.0, a key user to this wiki, is now inactive. AAEG, the administrator is also inactive. And more people. I am afraid that this wiki will not thrive any further.

We need more users, and if not, I fear the worst.

I am announcing that I will no longer be active on this wiki or the supercentenarian forums. I hope you are all doing well. Know that this is not the fault of any users here, I am making this decision for my own mental health and well-being. My Canada list can be deleted if no one is going to regularly edit it. Keep up the good work guys.
